JKCA scam: Delay in probe helping accused, says HC | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 10 : The state High Court has said that delay in investigation into alleged misappropriation of huge funds in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) was helping accused even as it sought an explanation from police for it. Hearing a Public Interest Litigation, a division bench of Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey observed that the Superintendent of Police, city east zone Srinagar, appears, to be not serious about the Investigation of the case. "The said authority has to explain his own conduct, in as much as, there is already huge delay in conducting the investigation, which is beneficial only to the accused persons," the division bench said and directed the police officer to appear in person on next date in the week commencing May 11. In the PIL filed by two valley-based cricketers, Majid Yaqoob Dar, a former Ranji Trophy cricketer and Nissar Ahmad Khan, a club level player, seek investigation by a high level team of reputed police officers into the alleged misappropriation of large scale funds in the JKCA. "The matter should be investigated by a high level team of reputed officers of the police or any other authorized department" the petitioners have prayed. Apart from this, they seek direction from the court for taking effective steps for the recovery of more than Rs 40 crore which according to them have been embezzled in JKCA. |
