Magisterial probe ordered in 'youth’s death' while making bid to evade 'arrest' | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 10 : Family members of an accused who died while making a bid to evade his arrest staged protest against police and blocked road Jammu-Poonch road at Nagesh Bridge demanding action against guilty. Meanwhile district administration has ordered magisterial inquiry will be conducted by Tehsildar Manjakote. According to police sources one Raj Kumar s/o Desh Raj of Thandikassi falling under jurisdiction of Police Station Rajouri died in the afternoon after he jumped into the Sukhto River to escape after being chased by two policemen in civil dress. "A local Court reportedly had issued non-bailable warrants against the deceased as he had failed to provide alimony to his first wife Meena Kumari (to whom had a brief married life for two months some 13 yrs ago) for four months and she had approached the Court for help, sources said. Following the death of youth, the family members staged protest and blocked Jammu-Poonch road at Nagesh Bridge for about five hours demanding compensation and FIR against the guilty cops. Soon after receiving information, Mohd Salim Malik, Additional DC, Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri rushed to spot pacified the protestors. They announced Rs 1 lakh (Rs 50000/-on spot), job to wife or to brother and a magisterial inquiry and other help to minor children at Police Goodwill school. It was their assurance following which traffic on highway was restored at about 8 pm. SSP Rajouri said, "A magisterial inquiry has been ordered and anybody found guilty will be booked under law."
