Dispute at Channi Rama on Wakaf land | | | Bashir Assad Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 16: Auqaf Islamia, Jammu, is alleged to have illegally sealed eleven shops at Bathindi (Channi Rama) constructed by the man who had donated some part of his land for the construction of a mosque. The Auqaf Islamia under section 50(1) of Jammu and Kashmir Wakf Act 2001 has sealed 11 newly constructed shops in Khasra No 331 min of village Channi Rama while as the owner of the land claimed that he had donated only 3 kanals and 5 marlas to the mosque years back and had kept 2 kanals for Madrasa in the close vicinity of the mosque constructed on the land donated by him. The owner alleged that Aquaf Islamia had made wrong entries in the revenue records. Talking to Early Times, he said that he had donated only 3kanals and 5 marlas to the mosque and left 2 kanals for running a madrasa. It was on this land, the donor claims, that he constructed 11 shops for a recurring income to run the madrasa. However, a former administrator demanded from him one shop for his personal use, he alleged, claiming that wrong enteries were made in revenue records after his refusal to oblige the administrator. When contacted, Administrator of Auqaf Islamia Jammu, Wasim Raja said that the land in question was notified in 2012 as wakaf land and if the person has any grievance he should file an appeal before the minister in charge wakaf and get the order quashed. He said that the "aggrieved party" had the right to file an appeal before the minister and it was the minister who had to dispose of the appeal on merits. He said that the aggrieved party was served a notice first. When he didn't file his objections, the order of sealing the shops was issued and implemented. |
