After MHA snub, JK Govt not to allow Tral march | Pak flags hoisted in Srinagar | | Geelani put under house arrest, Police mulling to arrest Masrat again Early Times Report srinagar, April 16: A day after police booked Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his close associates, including Masrat Alam Bhat, under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Union Home Ministry on Thursday asked the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to act against all the separatists who organized an anti-India rally in uptown here. Pertinently, police had registered a FIR in Police Station Budgam vide No 92 /2015 under sections 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 120-B, 147,341,336, 427 RPC against Geelani, Masarat Alam Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Bhat alias Peer Saifullah and other separatists for "provocative activities and hoisting Pakistani flag at Hyderpora. Sources told Early Times Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and made it clear that the issue of national security cannot be compromised. Geelani and his supporters holding an anti-India rally in Srinagar after a gap of five years has snowballed into a major controversy and central BJP leadership, according to the sources, is building pressure on the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to "tame the separatists." Insiders revealed that centre has informed the state government that separatists are trying to regroup their workers and activists to recreate a 2010 like situation in Kashmir. "Police are on toes and are keeping a close vigil over the activities of the separatist leaders, including Masrat Alam Bhat who was released last month," said a source. It's in place to mention here that Masrat Alam was the mastermind behind 2010 street protests across Kashmir in which more than 120 youth were killed. "Masrat since his release from Baramulla jail has maintained a low profile but he is trying to regroup his men and we believe he would definitely indulge in some mischief in coming days. He (Masrat) by waving Pakistani flag and raising pro-Pak slogans during Geelani's rally in Srinagar on Wednesday has made his intentions clear. We cannot take him lightly," said a police officer. The officer claimed that intelligence agencies have asked the police and other forces not to lower the guard as there is possibility of separatists orchestrating street protests and militants regrouping and targeting security forces and politicians. Sources revealed that various agencies have advised the Chief Minister to act tough against the separatists as in coming days they are planning to organize rallies in all district headquarters across Kashmir and are waiting for a chance to provoke people to create disturbance in Kashmir. They said police are contemplating to arrest Masrat Alam Bhat again while Geelani was placed under house detention on late Thursday evening. To begin with, sources said, government has decided not to allow separatists to march towards Tral in south Kashmiron Friday. Geelani had asked people to march towards Tral on Friday to express solidarity with the family of a youth who was killed in cross firing between Army and militants. "If separatists try to break the cordon and make any attempt to march towards Tral they would dealt with sternly," said a source. He said state government has taken the directions of MHA seriously and security agencies have been asked to deal with the situation in their own way. |
