As search begins for new face, leadership faced with dilemma of choice | BJP's state president on his way out…? | | Early Times Report Jammu, April 16: Incumbent President of BJP state unit Jugal Kishore is on his way out of this post and responsibility as the Central leadership has made up its mind to bring in a new face to run state affairs of the party. Even as the 'search' for appropriate face has begun, no decision has yet been taken on the final choice to head the state unit. According to sources, finding the party and entire hierarchy in disarray and day to day functioning disorganised, the step has become inevitable for the Central leadership. While the talk about possible change of guard had ripened some time back, the task was put on halt due to pre occupation of the leaders concerned with other political matters in the state, sources said adding that more than just symbolic completion of tenure as state president , there are other reasons which has prompted the central leadership to look for alternative choice as BJP's state president . Apart from other things, after Jugal's elevation to MP's stature, he has not been able to devote much time to his responsibility as the state head of the party. Even though he has remained busy with his schedule in the Parliament as also the vast constituency which sent him as representative in Parliament, the central leadership is also seeing some element of 'complacency' in his role which needed to be on pro active mode as the party is now as alliance partner in the governance. However, there is deep dilemma with regard to choice of the new president which the central leadership is faced with, sources said adding that the two senior leaders in the party at present who become natural front runners on account of seniority do not augur well for one or the other reason. One name that is doing the rounds is that of Sat Sharma, MLA from Jammu West constituency and Chander Mohan Sharma. Even within the party cadres and workers, there is strong yearning that only a leaders having deep sense of conviction and commitment to the cause of party should be elevated to the post of president. There is strong opposition to the murmur or possibility of any parachuted leader as may become the choice of central leadership for state president, sources said adding that the feedback has gone to those at the helm to give a message while taking this step that BJP believes in dynamic and at the same time honest, upright and committed president who is acceptable to masses. |
