Nurture historical places as tourist spots: Sudarshan Choudhary | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 16: Demanding expansion and promotion of places involving historical as well as religious importance which are not in the forefront of public domain, the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) leader Sudarshan Choudhary said that if given proper attention such places could come up as attractive tourist destinations. In a press statement issued here today, Sudarshan opined that the Chief Minister must look into the places which have historical background in abundance and are still unknown adding that if given special consideration the otherwise neglected areas could be developed as dream tourist destinations. He said that Baba Chamliyal, a well known sufi shrine at international border between India and Pakistan at Ramgarh in District Samba, Airwan, a beautiful place situated near Kathua city where an old Lord Shiva temple is located, Smah at Akhnoor which is old cave of Lord Shiva and constructed by Pandvas along with Purmandal and Uttar Behani, a well known places in Jammu and Samba districts needed to be given much needed impetus so that their hidden potential as tourist spots could be exploited fully. Choudhary further said that all these places are ancient and have historical background but are ill-fated as the previous governments have ignored their development. He expressed hope that the present coalition government headed by Mufti Sayeed will surely pay attention for the development of all these historical ancient places to turn them into better tourist spots. |
