SRINAGAR, May 12: Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs, Ch Zulfikar Ali today convened a follow up meeting with District Development Commissioners of Kashmir Division to review the progress of verification to ascertain the exact number of additional families under different categories so that rations are provided as per Census-2011 from next month.
On the occasion, the Minister sought the status of constitution of the district, Tehsil and Block level committees for early completion of verification process and further tasked them to conduct door-to-door survey so that no deserving family is left uncovered.
Stressing the need for preparing comprehensive list of beneficiaries under different categories, the minister said department will provide rations as per the data submitted by concerned Deputy Commissioners so it should be authentic and pragmatic. He said action would be taken against officers if loopholes are noticed in the data, an official statement said.
Zulfikar asked the Deputy Commissioners to submit report within stipulated time frame, adding the government is determined for supply of rations according to 2011 census from June this year. He also directed the concerned DCs and Assistant Director CAPD to submit updated lists of BPL, AAY, APL and other categories of rationees at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Minister also took stock of supply position at each district and asked the concerned to ensure that rations reach before 10th of every month to all districts in order to maintain proper and regular supply and fair distribution.
Later, the minister also discussed tribal issues with concerned deputy commissioners and asked them to prepare a comprehensive report for overall empowerment of marginalized sections of the society, the statement said.
Expressing concern over the hardships being faced by the tribal population due to lack of basic facilities, the minister asked the officers to adopt exclusive approach for the larger welfare of these communities. He also called for setting priorities under different sectors so that all basic facilities are extended to the tribal communities.
