CM visits Pahalgam, assures completion of Club by August

pahalgam, May 12: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today visited this famous tourist destination and reviewed pace of reconstruction of Pahalgam Club which gutted in a devastating fire incident in year 2005.
Accompanied by senior cabinet ministers including Finance Minister Haseeb Darbu, Roads and Buildings Altaf Bukhari and Horticulture Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri, Chief Minister assured completion of Pahalgam club by end of August.
"We know that this project has missed several deadlines but this one will be final and we are hopeful that by end of August it will be functional," Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed said, adding Club will not only benefit state and country but will also get internationally recognized.
"It has almost all the facilities including skating, snooker, table tennis, swimming etc so it is certain that the club will get internationally recognized," he added.
Chief Minister said that he has directed Finance Minister to provide financial assistance to the executing agency without any delay.
Responding to a query, Chief Minister said that state will itself develop the roads for boosting tourism sector of the state. "We have again retained National Highway with us. So I assure you that the highway will be upgraded," he said.
Mufti said that his government will take up four-lanning of Khanabal-Pahalgam road from Seer Hamdan to Pahalgam in next month.
On being asked why Government was delaying the implementation of Pahalgam Master Plan (PMP), Chief Minister assured that he will give nod to its implementation in the next cabinet meeting. "Yesterday we revived Master Plan so we will now bring it into the next cabinet meeting and will give nod to its implementation," he said.
Praising Bollywood Actor Salman Khan for promoting Tourism, Chief Minister said, "During my trip to Mumbai recently all the starts associated with film industry assured support. I am happy that the hero (Salman Khan) who is currently shooting in Kashmir for his film but he definitely helped at lot," CM added.
Senior official from Tourism department, JKDTC, R&B, JKPCC and others too accompanied Chief Minister during visit to several areas of Pahalgam particularly to Aru, Golf Course, Betab Vally, Pahalgam Club, amusement park and Government Higher Secondary School Pahalgam.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner / Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Shailendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Bashir Khan, Director Tourism and MD JKTDC, Farooq A. Shah, Chief Town Planner, Iftikhar Hakim, CEO, Pahalgam Development Authority, Riyaz Ahmad Wani, Chief Engineers of PDD and R&B, besides several other senior officers were present on the occasion.
