Naeem Akhtar behaving like Adolf Hitler, allege teachers | Education Deptt at war with teachers! | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, May 12: Teachers in this frontier district are up in arms against the Education Minister and the senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar and blame him for asking his subordinates to transfer the teachers from their home towns to far flung areas. Since the day Akhtar has taken over the charge of the important ministry he has been in the midst of the controversies. He (Akther) has hogged the headlines for "humiliating" the teachers, entering into heated arguments with his party colleagues and for asking schools not to hold morning assemblies. On Tuesday President of Teachers/Master Association Kishtwar Mehboob Qazi, who was transferred from DIET Kishtwar to Ramban, alleged that Education department at the behest of the Minister (Naeem Akhtar) is deliberately targeting the particular community while transferring teachers, headmasters and lecturers. Qazi while addressing a news conference here lamented that the government transferred three Masters on 11-5-2015 under order no :DSEJ/NG/M/3716-24. He was posted in Higher Secondary in Ramban district, while Irshad Ahmed was sent to posted HS Goyee and Shahnawaz Hussain was posted in HSS Sangaldan district Ramban from Kishtwar. Qazi alleged that it seems "Adolf Hitler" is heading the Education Department as teachers from their home districts are being sent to far flung areas without any justification, rhyme or reason. "Director School Education Jammu and Joint Director (EE) are resorting to pick and choose policy. They seem to be at war with the teachers, lecturers and masters of Kishtwar district," he added. He said that teachers won't tolerate such "biased transfer policy" where only teachers from particular community are facing victimization in a district. He claimed that Education department is deliberately targeting the employees of particular community from a particular region. Pertinently, Naeem Akhtar, after assuming the office of Education Minister had given numerous statements claiming that teachers in JK are "incapable" and they have ruined the younger generation of the state. He (Akhtar) on Tuesday had to call the representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) to his office chambers to persuade them to defer their pen down strike which was slated to be held today and on Wednesday. Teachers employed through SSA and RMSA scheme have been without salaries for the past eight months and they sat on a 3-day hunger strike in Srinagar last week. "Education Minister cannot dictate terms to us. If he continues with his attitude and anti-teachers policy we will give him a befitting reply," said a teacher wishing anonymity.
