Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 30:Non release of rationslips to Kashmiri migrants has delayed the distribution of ration for the last two months among them, leading to a lot of resentment among the relief holders living in camp and non camp localities.
The distribution of ration slips which takes part in the month of April every year have been delayed for the first time by two months by Relief Organisation on the instruction of Relief and Rehabilitation Ministry.
According to sources the Relief Organisation for the first time this year didnt release ration slips in the month of April as has been a case earlier on the pretext that ministry wanted to reshuffle entire official staff and zonal officers but same couldnt take place till date. The Ministry restrained Relief Organisation from paying the ration slips to migrants from April this year till the reshuffle in the organisation putting hapless migrants to problems, sources added.
But migrants created a hue and cry last month after they were denied ration at ration depots. Later the relief Organisation issued directives to zonal officers to issue instructions to ration depots to provide ration on previous slips. But this way those migrants were deprived who had thrown previous slips as they were knowing that from April ration will be paid on new slips.
Sources said but two months elapsed and staff has not been changed in Relief organisation with the result the ration slips for the month of may have not been issued also.Facing criticism from every sideRelief organisation issued another order to CAPD Depots to issue ration as per previous slips .But only two as the May month are now left and it is not possible that CAPD can provide ration to all the migrants on the last two days of month. This has generated a lot of resentment among hapless migrants and they are up in arms against the Government.
Sources said in case the Relief and Rehabilitation Ministry wants to reshuffle the organisation it should have not delayed the same at the cost of hapless migrants. the organisations of migrants while taking serious note of Reliefand rehabilitation Ministry functioning have warned agitation in case it continues todelay distribution of ration slips.
Moreover the authorites have also failed to allot the shops to deserving migrant traders at Jagti township and Purkhoo migrant camp despite the fact that the shopping complexes have been already cosntructed at both these places.
The migrant traders aspiring for allotment of shops in the shopping complexes both at Purkhoo and Jagti have made number of pleas to the authorities but to no avail. The migrant traders are running from pillar to post for the allotment of shops at the two camps but the government is unmoved.
