Waving of Pak flags in Kashmir Does JK Government allow it? | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 30: Barely two days after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's warning that waving Pakistani flags won't be tolerated on Indian land, the repeat of this offence in south Kashmir on May 29 wasn't anything accidental but something which the government allowed. While the separatists have been repeatedly doing it to be in the good books of their cross border masters, the state government allows such anti-national events only to ritually repent in the end. Now waving Pakistani flag is almost a routine at separatist rallies. Political analysts in Kashmir said on Friday the anti-national rally led Shabir Shah deliberately waved the forbidden green flag in Anantnag and tried to defend the move only at the backing of Pakistan and its ace supporter in Kashmir Syed Ali Geelani. For the past few months after having left Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabir Shah is often seen close to Geelani. Come any seminar or other anti-national events hosted by Geelani, Shabir Shah is seen sitting next to Geelani. "As Pakistan is giving more of support and importance to Geelani these days, separatists want to dance at his tunes. And what happened in Anantnag was outcome of the same," said the analyst. Insiders said Shah had finalized the program in consultation with Geelani. As part of preplanning, Shah for justifies the waving of Pakistani flags and shouting pro-Pakistan slogans. "It is not a crime but a matter of sentiment, Kashmir is a disputed territory," he said asking "I fail to understand why India gets annoyed at the waving of Pakistani flags in Kashmir as people have been doing it here since 1947?" Though the rally concluded peacefully, the protesters torched Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) flags. Similar had been the situation last month at Geelani's rally in Hyder Pora here when Pakistani flag was waved at a stone's throw from Police Headquarters in Srinagar. Incidents like these have put the Peoples Democratic Party -Bharatiya Janta Party alliance to litmus test. But ironically though from Union Home Minster to Chief Minister the government top brass swears that such incidents won't be tolerated, it is the government which primarily allows the separatist to hold anti-India rallies. "If government had prevented Shabir Shah from leading the rally, how would the Pakistan flag be waved off on Indian land," asked an analyst. |
