As existing schools crave for attention, Govt opens new | | | Bijay Charak Early Times Report
Jammu, May 30: Even as the existing schools in the state crave for staff and infrastructure, the government boasts of opening more schools. The Government Higher Secondary School Bharath, Doda is a live example of virtual neglect shown by previous and present governments, wherein around 300 students are packed in two rooms. Sources informed Early Times that in the year 2010 state government upgraded Bharath Higher Secondary School but till date the school is running with one building block. There are four rooms including one store, one principal room and one for staff. It is ironical that the two classrooms which are available here are not established as per the guidelines laid down by Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education. "As per norms in a Primary school the students sitting capacity should be 45 but in Government Higher Secondary School Bharath, the sitting capacity is 25 in each", sources said, adding that in 2012 government has sanctioned four additional classrooms but it is still under construction. Moreover, four years on, GHSS Bharath was upgraded but surprisingly only seven lecturers, two permanent and five contractual have been posted. There is no teacher to teach Math, Physics and Chemistry. Further there are no laboratories facilities, and sports infrastructure. Rajesh Bhagat a resident of Bharath criticized previous government especially, the then Education Minister, who was allegedly more interested in shifting teachers, masters from one place to another for his failure to provide sufficient infrastructure and teachers to rural schools, in which GHSS Bharath, where only two permanent teachers are posted. Repeated attempts to contact Chief Education Officer, Doda, Ajit Kumar Sharma went in vain. |
