Not only it has created difference among organisations of Sangh Parivar but it is also fuelled infighting within the BJP because one faction of the party openly supported the Bandh to settle score with their rivals in the party. Insiders in the BJP said that when leaders of Coordination Committee for AIIMS were mobilizing public support for Jammu Bandh, some organisations affiliated by RSS had offered unconditional support to the committee. Leaders of these organisations made it clear to the Coordination Committee members that they would ensure complete shut-down in their respective areas because for them interest of Jammu region is their priority. Activists of these organisations actively participated in the demonstrations and protests which were held on the day of bandh on May 27. Sources said that there was a clear divide in the Sangh Parivaar on supporting Coordination Committee because a dominating group was in favour of intensifying the agitation to convince Union Government to reconsider its decision to shift AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir Valley. Besides, the lot which could not manage party mandate for Rajya Sabha as well as Member Legislative Council too played a similar role as the bandh also coincided with the visit of BJP stalwart and Minister for Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh in Jammu on that day. |
