| Charak, Vakil, Aziz under scanner for trying to dislodge Mir | | Party serves notices to trio for anti-party activities? | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 30: Congress high command has reportedly served notice of veteran Congress leaders namely Gulchain Singh Charak, Abdul Gani Vakil and Prem Sagar Aziz. All these senior leaders have raised banner of revolt against newly appointed president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Ghulam Ahmed Mir. Officially Congress leaders have maintained a silence over reports of serving notices to the trio but sources said that notices have been served to them for their alleged involvement in the anti-party activities. Credible sources in the Congress said that in the notices all these Congress leaders were asked to clear their positions because they have launched non-cooperative movement to dislodge Mir, who has been appointed PCC chief to revive the "dead" party in Jammu and Kashmir. Ghulchain Singh Charak, former Congress Working Committee (CWC) member, Abdul Gani Vakil, former Minister and Prem Sagar Aziz, former, minister have participated in some meetings which were organised by dissidents. Interestingly other dissidents have expressed their faith in the leadership of Mir but this trio has not so far not attended any meeting organized by Mir. Mir was appointed as PCC chief on March 3 this year. Just after his appointment as PCC chief Abdul Gani Vakil had raised banner of revolt. Vakil had termed appointment of Mir as black-day in the history of Congress. Vakil is in the forefront of launching campaign against appointment of Mir. Credible sources in the party said Congress high-command has given clear signal to local leaders that indiscipline against Mir would not be tolerated. |
