Jammu, May 30 : Diane Miller, Regional English Language Officer (RELO), US Embassy, New Delhi, visited Model Academy School to attend the closing ceremony of the English Access Microscholarship Program. The program which was first of its kind in J&K state was launched in Model Academy on 19th April, 2012. The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs funds the two year program in India and around the world. It provides a foundation of English language skills to talented 13-20 year-olds from economically disadvantaged sectors through after-school classes and intensive sessions. Nearly 100 students from Model Academy were a part of this programme. During the two years students learnt about American society and culture, democratic values and attended field trips to enhance their experience. |
