CUJ VC Ashok Aima felicitated 5/30/2015 11:24:03 PM Early Times Report Jammu, May 30 : Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu was felicitated by the Principal & staff of Government Degree College Udhampur on his maiden visit to the College after taking over as Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu. Prof. Aima is a renowned scholar of national & international repute who has also been associated with the National Accreditation & Assessment Council ( NAAC) Banglore as Chairperson & Coordinator of various Peer Team visits across the country . In his interaction with the staff of the College in the College Conference Hall , Prof. Aima sensitized them to the needs of quality assurance in Higher Education System. Stressing on curriculum & pedagogy, he gave a detailed discourse on how a teacher contributes towards the attainment of excellence in higher education institution by quoting many instances & examples. "Excellence is not a product of divine intervention rather it is an outcome of constant & consistent efforts of all the stakeholders of a system. Teacher quality & growth play a big role. Let teacing shift from instructional to transactional pedagogy. Responbility of learning has be that of a student in the system where a teacher is a facilitator only. This participation raises student's self-esteem & instills confidence in him." He also emphasized on the imperatives of moral excellence, performance , professional competitiveness & accountability for the teachers. He was speaking in relation to the forthcoming NAAC re-accreditation of GDC Udhampur. He also visited the College library & various departments & gave valuable suggestions for a better performance.
