Jammu, May 30: Ghrota Police claimed to have arrested a former Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Police who was evading his arrest for the last three months for his alleged involvement in a rape case during a raid conducted here today.
"The accused has been identified as Rashpal Singh son of Sarban Singh of village Burn, police sources said."Based on a tip off, police conducted a raid at his possible hideout and arrested him, sources said adding, that the ex ASI was booked by the police for raping a woman and was booked under a FIR No 22/2015 u/s 376 RPC stood registered against the two persons including ex Cop Rashpal Singh. "The police have launched a manhunt as after committing crime the duo went underground, police sources said, adding, "hunt to nab the on other absconder identified as Kali is on till last reports came in. Pertinently, a woman (name withheld) lodged complaint with the Ghrota police on March 3, alleging therein that two persons committed rape upon her and following complaint police lodged an FIR againt the duo. |
