Despite located in accident prone area, SDH Banihal lacks basic facilities | | | Early Times Report BANIHAL, May 30: Although the state government had promised to provide all facilities and services to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, the government yet is to provide even basic facilities till date as the hospital not only is housed in shambled building but also faces acute shortage of doctors and basic amenities. "Shortage of doctors and lake of basic amenities forced the patients to visit Government and private hospitals and clinics of Kashmir valley, locals lamented. As per locals the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal despites its strategic location i.e. on being situated on every busy and accident prone Jammu Srinagar national highway faces shortage of doctors, number of posts of specialist doctors like gynecologist, Radiologist, bone and joints specialist (ortho) while three Assistant Surgeons post still are laying vacant in this hospital for last many years. Besides catering locals healthcare needs the this hospital for its location is catering the hundreds of accident victims but it fails to serve them due to the lack of facilities many accidental patients dies on way during referred to the valley hospitals in past. Locals of the area have demanded that the vacant posts of doctors especially gynecologist may be appointed as soon as possible in this hospital as the poor people of the area may not suffer more and also appealed to govt to provide other facilities including diagnostic machines to this hospital. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Banihal MH Baru admitted that some posts of doctors are lying vacant in the hospital and said he had communicated the authorities in this regard. he however added that having a diploma in mother and child care, he himself is trying to his best to run the gyne section of the hospital himself till the regular post remains vacant. |
