J&K to Host Nationals in Football & Cricket, DG YSS Sunaina Malik 6/11/2015 10:14:21 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, June 11 : Two day 61st Executive Committee and General Council meeting of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) concluded at Laxmibhai Institute of Physical Education Assam. According to a statement issued to KNS, President, SGFI Padmashree Satpal presided over the meeting while as Minister YS&S /Transport /Excise Government of Assam Ajit singh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Besides SGFI Gen Secretary Dr Rajesh Mishra, commissioner secretary, Olympic champion (Wrestler) Sushil Kumar and Director General Department of J&K Youth Services & Sports Jahangir Mir also joined the dice for the two daylong meeting. Threadbare discussion was held on various issues including National calendar of sports activities to be conducted during the year 2015-16. Various decisions were taken with regard to conduct of such activities. The Apex Committee finalized the calendar and allotment of various events to be conducted in different States whereas State of Jammu and Kashmir has been allotted Nationals in Football Boys U/19 & Cricket Girls U/17. Besides this inclusion of Water Sports in the SGFI calendar of activities was agreed in principal and Senior Vice President of SGFI was nominated as Coordinator for the same. Moreover Inclusion of Mustudi & water sports also came under discussion during the two day meet. DG, YSS Jahangir Mir while speaking in the meeting said that SGFI serves to nurture talent and acts as its source for India to strengthen its position in events like Olympics, Common Wealth Games and at other levels. He said that the efforts of his Department in shaping the sports talent of School Children of the state is worth mentioning as every year student players from the State of J&K are showing excellent results in various National Events.
