| Surgical strikes in Myanmar create ripples across Pakistan | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 11: The Indian Army destroying two terrorist camps in Myanmar and killing the terrorists responsible for attacking an Army convoy in Manipur has created ripples in Pakistan. Hours after Army's operations in Myanmar, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore, retired Army Major, said that the strikes were a message to all countries, including Pakistan, and groups harbouring "terror intent" towards India that "we will strike at a place and at a time of our choosing." Following Rathore's statement Pakistan Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan said, "Pakistan is not like Myanmar. Pakistan cannot be cowed down by threats from across the border." The nationalist forces have hailed the bold move of the Modi government. "It's after a long time we are feeling proud. Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking a bold decision has sent a strong message to all the neigbouring countries that India policy towards terror has changed and if anyone dares to enter in our territory and challenge us he would be dealt with sternly," said a retired Army official. He said, "Indian Army is one of the most capable armies in the world. If political leadership supports our Army we can eliminate the terrorists and terrorism from our neigbouring counties within no time. Previous regimes and their leaders lacked the political will to carry out the surgical strikes and used to worry about the international pressure. Now the situation has changed and we are ready to give a befitting reply to any country which even dares to look towards India." Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding of Srinagar based XV Corps Lt General Subarata Saha did not rule out the possibility of Indian Army crossing over to other side and carrying out surgical strikes in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) but in the same breath he said, "Myanmar situation can't be compared with LoC in Jammu and Kashmir." "What action we take, what response we do is clearly related to operational circumstances," the GOC added. A defence analyst while talking to Early Times said, "When terrorists struck in Mumbai most of the Army Generals had advised the political leadership to carry out surgical strikes in PoK so that terrorists are given a befitting reply but that time the leadership lacked the political will and decided just to act on the diplomatic front and not to take military action against terrorists stationed in Pakistan." He said the Indian Army has made its intentions clear by entering deep inside Mayanmar. "Pakistan is feeling threatened. Had it not felt the heat Pakistan interior minister would not have reacted by saying that Pakistan is not Mayanmar," the analyst added. "Let us hope our country follows the same policy against terror and if Pakistan tries to indulge in any sort of misadventure it should be given a befitting reply. We should make it clear to our enemies that we will not sit quiet and won't allow any of the neighbouring countries to indulge in proxy war against us," he added. |
