PWD casual workers continue agitation, demand regularization | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, June 11: In support of their pending demands, the strike of daily wagers and casual workers working with PWD continued here today. Resenting over the unjust approach of the state government, dozens of daily wagers turned protestors shouted slogans against the state government under the banner of PWD (R&B) Casual Labour Union Kathua Division, alleging government as anti-daily wagers. They said that stiff posturing of the government is spoiling the future of thousands of daily wagers and family members who survive on their small salary. Leading the protesters, President Praveen Kumar said casual labors working with PWD department are getting miserly amount ranging between Rs 3000 to Rs 4500 per month. He said that they are working in the department from 10 to 15 years but yet to be regularized. Demanding permanent employment in the department, the protesters demanded of enhancing the wages of daily wagers and computer operators. "Regularization is far away dream which seems not be realized, even the wages against the done work are still unpaid to casual workers of PWD and throwing our issues in dustbin by the PWD higher-ups forced us to go on agitational mode," said union president. He further said that keeping in view the callous attitude of the government and department, the association would carry on strike unless and until all the demands are fulfilled. |
