Mufti wins acclaim for uninterrupted power supply | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 2: The people of Srinagar are all praise for Mufti Sayed government for ensuring uninterrupted power supply during the holy month of Ramadhan. According to Sheikh Abdul Rafiq of Batmaloo this is the first time since 2005 that the government has refrained from power curtailment during Ramadhan especially during Sheri times. He said Mufti Sayed had taken similar measures during his previous regime which lasted up to 2005. Although complaints of shortage of potable water have been received especially from areas fed by the newly launched Sukhnag Water Supply Scheme, there are no dharnas and demonstrations for water and electricity this time. Reports from the old city which is not metered yet have a similar story to tell. "Adequate power supply during the holy month is highly appreciated. This must, however, continue,' said Ali Muhammad a teacher. On May 21, the Chief Minister directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to purchase additional 250 MWs of power for Ramadhan and peak summer season in Jammu. The Chief Minister also instructed PDD to stick to fixed schedules of load shedding and not resort to undeclared power cuts. |
