Lady Officer lodges complaint against Inf Deptt's Cultural Officer, inquiry initiated | | | Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, July 2: A lady officer has lodged a complaint with joint director of information department against Cultural Officer, Jammu , Raman Joshi for allegedly harassing her and using unparliamentarily language against her. The lady officer also allegedly levelled other serious charges against the cultural officer, adding that the bills of different cultural programmes including the Independence Day were still pending and the cultural officer was adamant not to verify them on the pretext that these were fake bills. Same is the fate of G.P Fund cases also, she alleged. The complaint has not only raised finger against the working of the Information Department but has also exposed its concern with Supreme Court of India as violating its directive the Information Department has yet to constitute a Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH). The disclosure in this connection was made through RTI query filed by one Dheeraj Gupta of Janipur. Worthwhile to mention here that Supreme Court of India had directed government offices to constitute CASH to safeguard women employees at work places. The Supreme Court's direction came to fore in case of Vishaka and others v/s state of Rajasthan. The Joint Director of Information in communiqué No INF/J-1528 apprised the matter to the Director Information Department who , taking cognizance of the matter, directed Deputy Director Information (PR) to hold an inquiry. The director also sought explanation from the alleged accused Raman Joshi within two days but it has not come even after five months. While Director Information Muneer-ul-Islam , remained unavailable for comment, Joint Director of Information Nagender Singh Jamwal when contacteud said that efforts are on to establish an empowering committee .He said that the victim lady has been transferred from Joshi's Cultural unit, adding the gender sensitization is being launched in the department to provide healthy working environment to our women working force. |
