BJP leaders ask Rajnath to sack non-performing ministers | 'They can't keep on reaping fruits of power forever' | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 2: Many leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who are not a part of the government have reportedly decided to approach the party high command to register their protest against what they term as "non-performance" of their ministers and they not paying much heed towards the problems faced by the common people. To begin with a few BJP leaders met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here and told him that central leadership should intervene and ensure that party ministers live up to the expectations of the masses, sources told Early Times on Thursday. "The expectations need to be fulfilled so that the gloom of hopelessness, created by the previous government, is eradicated and the state also figures in the list of progressive states of the country," a source quoted senior BJP leader as having told Singh. Sources said the BJP leaders called on Singh, who arrived in Kashmir on Wednesday on a 2-day visit, and apprised him about the problems being faced by the common people due to ministers remaining inaccessible and they remaining confined to their cozy office chambers. They said a few BJP leaders complained that ministers from their party are busy reaping the fruits of power. "It's unfortunate that a few ministers are fighting with the security agencies to get the brand new bullet proof vehicles for themselves. There is no mechanism at place through which common people can reach the ministers and apprise them about their issues," BJP leaders are believed to have told the Union Home Minister. One of the senior BJP leaders, according to the sources, told Singh if the incumbent ministers don't mend their ways they should be sacked and the new faces be given a chance. "It's really astounding that ministers are giving wrong feedback to the party high command and are projecting that All is Well within the coalition and people are very happy. Party high command should try to cross check the facts independently rather than taking the feedback provided by the ministers as true to the core," a BJP leader is understood to have told the Union Home Minister. Sources said one of the BJP leaders suggested that BJP men who are sitting on the fence should be given a chance to prove their worth and be involved at decision making level. "We need to follow our coalition partner and see how it has roped in its people to man important positions. Why can't we elevate competent people within our party fold to the positions of advisors so that they can act as a bridge between the common people and the ministers," a BJP leader told Singh. Sources said the Union Home Minister told the state BJP leaders that he would take up the issues raked by them with the party president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "After discussing all the issues, BJP ministers and a few party leaders would be called to New Delhi to sort out the issues which need to be addressed immediately," sources quoted Singh as having told the BJP leaders who met him in the summer capital. |
