2,085 spot damages to irrigation network restored in Jammu

Jammu, July 2: The Jammu and Kashmir government has repaired damages caused at 2,085 places of irrigation network here due to last year's flash floods.
Under State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), out of 3,238 spot damages to irrigation network, 2,085 spots have been temporarily restored in Jammu region, an official spokesman said today.
He said that under permanent restoration, out of 1,293 spots, 604 have been completed while work on other 255 is in progress.
This was revealed at a high level meeting of officers chaired by Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Bukhari to review the progress of restoration of infrastructure in Jammu division damaged in the September 2014 floods.
It was informed that under Special Plan Allocation (SPA), 51 works have been taken up by R&B Department at a total cost of Rs 93.04 crore.
"For the restoration of Sheri Kashmir Bridge Poonch, construction of two additional Spams have been taken up and the work has been started on ground having cost Rs 9 crore," the spokesman said.
The Minister asked the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to direct concerned Deputy Commissioner to submit the report to Advocate General regarding the site inspection of the Bridge at the earliest as asked by the High Court.
It was also informed in the meeting that damaged Nikki Tawi Bridge would be partially restored and made traffic- worthy for Light Motor Vehicles by July 15.
