HC’s directive on artificial lake, Gondola projects | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 2:A high court division bench of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal has issued a directive as regards the two prestigious projects - Artificial Lake and Gandola. The court directive came in a PIL filed by Inderjeet Khajuria, President All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association. It has been submitted in the PIL that the state government is making tall claims about taking all possible measures to make Jammu city a place of tourist attraction but on ground the situation is contrary. Senior AAG Seema Shekhar, who appeared for the state, submitted that she had filed the status report in terms of earlier order whereby then division bench had directed to place on record decision taken in the meeting on 29.04.2015 regarding review execution of mega projects in Jammu city including two projects in question. The bench observed that the status report was not on court record and directed the registry to tag the same with the court file. The bench granted two weeks time to senior AAG S S Nanda, who appeared for JMC, to file comprehensive statement detailing therein the extent of encroachment, identifying the encroachers and steps taken to remove the encroachers as also to prevent encroachment as also municipal waste dumping on the river banks. It also directed that JMC shall specify the period during which the encroachments have been made on the river banks with a view to pin the responsibility on the concerned officers, who permitted the said encroachments to be made and failed to take action. |
