Chib demands statehood for Jammu | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, July 2: Virtually toeing line of RSS, senior Congress leader and former Minister Rajinder Singh Chib today raised the demand of separate for Jammu region to end worst ever discrimination with Jammu region. Chib raised this demand while addressing a protest demonstration organised by the private B.Ed colleges against decision of the state government to start two year B.Ed course in Jammu region. Chib while addressing the demonstration said that Jammu has been facing worst ever discrimination at the hands of Kashmiri ruler and it was high time to separate Jammu from Kashmir to end this discrimination. Chib raised this demand in the presence of large number of people who supported this demand. Chib argued that without statehood chances of ending discrimination was very remote so it was appropriate time to launch the agitation in favour of statehood for Jammu. Earlier in the month of December 2010, another Congress stalwart Sham Lal Sharma had stoked a controversy by suggesting statehood for Jammu. Interestingly when BJP has maintained a silence over this demand, Congress has raised this demand to corner BJP. Sources in the Congress said that party has been raising pro-Jammu issue only to corner BJP because the Saffron Party has entered into alliance with PDP so it is difficult for the party to raise pro-Jammu issues.
