Early Times Report Jammu, July 2: Prominent Sikh organization of J&K State including J&K Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, DGPC Jammu, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Shiromani AKali Dal (Amritsar), Sikh Students Federation, Sikh Intellectuals Circle, and Sikh Welfare Front have demanded a holiday on the eve of DGPC elections on July 8 in Jammu and Kashmir. A meeting of senior leaders of these organizations and Sikh Intellectuals was held here today under the Chairmanship S. Tarlochan Singh Wazir Chairman J&K Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, wherein different aspects of the forth coming DGPC election were discussed and it was resolved that unity of sikh community and supremacy of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and its uniform Rehat Maryada will be protected and implemented at all costs. Sikh leaders alleged that certain disgruntled elements are trying to divide and push the Sikh community of J&K away from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and its uniform Rehat Maryada (Uniform Religious Civil Court) and we appeal to all the contesting candidates to preserve the sanctity of sikh ideology, our glorious heritage, unity and welfare of Sikh community at all costs. |
