Is NC part of AIIMS CC again? | | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, July 17: Notwithstanding the rebuff handed over to provincial president Devendra Singh Rana by the Kashmiri leadership of the National Conference for issuing a statement in favour of ongoing struggle to get AIIMS for Jammu, a newly appointed office bearer of party's provincial unit is rubbing shoulders with the leaders of the AIIMS Coordination Committee, manufacturing confusion over NC's stand with regards to demand of AIIMS for Jammu. Sources disclose that Jugal Mahajan, a noted businessman and a former office bearer of the Jammu Chamber Of Commerce and Industry, who enjoys close proximity to Dr. Farooq Abdullah and who was recently appointed as the provincial vice president of Jammu unit of the party, attended the meeting of the AIIMS Coordination Committee the previous day, creating confusion amongst party's rank and file. His participation in the Coordination committee meet has reportedly raised several eyebrows in party leadership in Srinagar. It is pertinent to mention here that party's provincial president Devenra Singh Rana had been summoned to Srinagar and reprimanded when he issued a couple of statements in favour of AIIMS in Jammu. "Rana's statements were incoherent to the stated position of NC with regards to demand of setting up AIIMS in Jammu as per the original announcement by the Centre and hence he was directed by the party leadership to stay quiet over the issue" told a party office bearer in Jammu. "There has not been a word from Rana over the issue since then" he added. Mahajan was seen at the meeting of the AIIMS Coordination Committee, which is mulling resumption of its agitation that it had suspended after the assurance of the Dy Chief Minister that announcement conceding to their demand, would be made before Jul 20. His participation in the meeting is being seen as change in NC's stand with regards to the demand of setting up AIIMS in Jammu and signifies that NC is for restoration of AIIMS project to Jammu as originally announced.
