Early Times Report JAMMU, July 17: Senior officers of the rank of ADGPs are likely to replace IGPs as the heads of different police wings in the state. The government is contemplating to replace IGPs with ADGPs as the heads of different police wings, according to official sources. The home department was also said to have been taken into confidence on this issue, sources said, adding that a decision in this regard could be taken in the next state cabinet meet. Traffic, CID, railways and crime wings of the state police are presently headed by IGPs. All these wings would now be headed by ADGPs, sources claimed. The state police at present has nine ADGPs. While one of them would be retiring next month, two, including a lady officer, are on central deputation. Of the remaining six, two are still waiting for their posting. When contacted, a senior home department functionary said the government had asked for their suggestion on the issue of posting of ADGPs as heads of different police wings. "We have given our suggestion," he added. He said the government could take a decision in this regard in the next cabinet meeting. |
