Not only fire but allegations are exchanged on border | | | Apart from exchanging mortar fire on the International Border and the LOC in Jammu and Kashmir India and Pakistan have started exchanging allegations and counter allegations. Whileon Thursday Pakistani Rangers targeted five border outposts in R.S.Pora in which three civilian were injured, Islamabad has alleged that four civilians were killed in the gun and mortar fire opened by the Indian troops. Pakistan on Thursday alleged that its four citizens were killed after Indian troops opened fire along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC). It alleged three people were killed and five others injured in Sialkot's Chaprar sector, whereas another person was killed in firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rawalakot's Neza Pir sector in separate instances of unprovoked firing by Indian Border Security Forces on Thursday. In order to lend credibility to its allegations Pakistan has announced the names of four people who were killed in Indian retaliatory fire. As far as Wednesday's reports are concerned one woman was killed and six other persons including two BSF men were injured in Akhnoor and RS Pura sectors due to Pakistani firing.Even if one does believe what Pakistan has stated that its four civilians were killed one has to take into account the level of ceasefire violations that were being carried out by the Pakistani troops during the last over one year. And Islamabad should have neither any regrets nor any resentment over the retaliatory fire opened by the Indian forces.Even the Union Home Minister,Rajnath Singh has repeatedly stated that the Indian forces have been given full liberty for carrying out retaliatory measures once the Pakistani troops or the Rangers targeted Indian border outposts and border villages.Whether in R.S.Pora or in Akhnoor sector people have collected scores of mortar shells which had damaged their houses and walls.Yes,one opinion says that since Prime Minister,Narendra Modi is to visit Jammu on July 17 Pakistani troops have intensified ceasefire violations possibly to demonstrate to Modi that Pakistani troops were not afraid or scared of his 56 inches chest size. These ceasefire violations are possibly meant to keep the cauldron of Kashmir issue boiling. Does it mean that the Pakistani Army wants the Kashmir issue to be discussed during the proposed talks between India and Pakistan ? It seems so because the joint agreement in which the two sides have not mentioned anything about the Kashmir issue has made Nawaz Sharif vulnerable to opposition criticism despite the fact that his adviser,Sartaj Aziz, announced that talks will be held only if Kashmir issue was discussed. Well these ceasefire violations and growing activities of militants in the Kashmir valley are said to have allowed the security situation to assume disturbing dimensions. Both the state and the central Governments, besides security and intelligence agencies, are worried over series of incidents in which a number of civilians, including a sarpanch and a r etired police officer, were killed. After a lull of about a month militants have relaunched grenade attacks on mobile towers in Baramulla. These killings and attack on mobile towers were being carried out to create added scare among people who would be forced to support insurgency. These killings and attacks on mobile towers were being carried out to motivate parents to spare their boys for enrolment in militant outfits. And Islamabad has given a new twist to the ongoing conflict by blaming India for having engaged a drone for spying. Islamabd has alleged that one drone was brought down while flying in its territory. Despite the fact that India rejected Pakistan's claim Islamabad summoned Indian High Commissioner in order to lodge a formal protest. Whatever may be the reality the level of conflict between the two nations continues to rise which may not allow the two sides to reopen the process of dialogue. |
