Govt to ensure holistic, sustained development in rural areas: DyCM

JAMMU, July 17: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that the Government is committed to ensure holistic, sustained and need based development of the State keeping in view the aspirations of the people.
Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a huge gathering of people in Nouni Chilakh Panchayat in Bilawar area of Kathua district.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government has put in place a mechanism by which the pace of developmental activities being undertaken by the Government is accelerated and also completed in a time bound manner. " The necessary instruction have already been passed on to the executing agencies to work in close coordination with each other so that the developmental programme are completed within the stipulated time and people get benefitted from these", he maintained.
Lashing out at the parties trying to mislead the people, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that they have not done anything worthwhile during their tenure and now are trying to mislead the people of the State by spreading lies and canards. The people are clever and wise enough to understand their mechanization and would not get carried away by their falsehood propaganda.
Asking people to come forward and exhibit their participatory role in day to day governance, execution and implementation of various welfare programmes, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the same is very essential in the democracy and strengthening it at the grass-root level. He said that necessary instructions have already been issued to the officers to involve large scale participation of local populous in various welfare programmes undertaken by the Government.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers of the PDD to install additional electric poles to provide new electric connections and also augment the electric infrastructure in the area. He also directed for holding awareness camps of agriculture and horticulture to educate the masses about the government schemes so that they can avail the benefits out of these.
The issue of improving road connectivity to the areas would be addressed as a comprehensive plan has already been submitted under PMGSY and would be taken up soon, he maintained.
DC Kathua, Ajay Singh Jamwal and other senior officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
