Peace Resolution is noteworthy: Choudhary | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 11: Appreciating state legislators for adopting a resolution denouncing all forms of extremism and maintaining peace in the state, Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and member J&K State Advisory Board for Gujjars and Bakerwals, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said that this gesture is noteworthy and must percolate down to grass root level so that integrity and security of this sensitive state is not compromised at any cost. Choudhary Hamid also hailed the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for enhancing food stipend in Gujjar and Bakerwal hostels for schoolchildren from Rs. 50 to Rs. 100 and distribution of nearly 10,000 solar lights amongst the community which doesn't has access to electricity. This move, the PDP leader said would improve quality of life of these people and help their children get good food in hostels. He hailed chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for considering extending guarantee to SC/ST Corporation to avail bank finance for alleviation of the socially-weak community. Choudhary Hamid said that coalition government led by PDP was working hard to uplift weaker sections of society but hoped that in days to come Gojri language will be included in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution and some model villages will also be constructed. He said that Gujjars and Bakerwals also face hardships in transporting their livestock for which adequate arrangements should be done. There should be a simple procedure to ensure hassle free movement of livestock for vaccination, breeding and other allied purposes besides government must arrange for free vaccination for animals, mobile livestock and healthcare centres for nomadic population which will help the community in a big way. Choudhary Hamid emphasised that Gujjars and Bakerwals had always been contributing in peace and prosperity of state but have never been given their due. He appreciated the move of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in creating a separate Tribal Affairs Ministry to ensure empowerment of weaker sections, especially Gujjars and Bakerwals in Jammu and Kashmir and hoped that special funds would be earmarked for the ministry. |
