Afzal Guru was hanged under the Congress regime. Rashid took the money to keep his mouth wide shut on Afzal Guru since then.
Even National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana in his maiden assembly appearance had labeled Rashid as "salable commodity".
The other astonishing facts on Rashid's is that since his constituency Langate is around 20 kilometers far away from Sopore - the native village of Afzal Guru, how he becomes the messiah of voice of that constituency on Afzal Guru when the recent elected MLA from Sopore is Abdul Rashid Dar of Congress - the party that while in centre had hanged Afzal Guru.
Despite getting the death sentence in Congress regime, Sopore elected a Congress candidate .
Insiders say that engineer Rashid's second stint in valley as MLA could not have been possible without the patronage of agencies working in the valley.
"While his constituency is not Sopore from where Afzal Guru belonged and the constituency is ruled by Congress MLA, it is thus being held that Congress cannot be ruled out to be behind the veil supporting what engineer Rashid does in the valley including the beef party," said the sources
Maintaining proximity with ISI and IB at the same time has been the ritual of engineer Rashid while many are of opinion that he has got better of both
"He =is used clandestinely used by all political players in J&K that include Congress, NC, PDP and even by separatists, he soughing up by the JP MLAs point towards the act that till now JP has no 'inside connections' with him," sources maintain adding that he creates nuisance in assembly, indulges in .scuffle with all and is not even obliterated by any which apparently projects his shoddy links with all".
