IIT to be established at Nagrota
No decision on IIM, AIIMS yet

Srinagar, Oct 11: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today stated that the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) sanctioned by the government of India will be established at village Jagti of Nagrota in Jammu District for which the land has been identified, while the government has yet to identify the land for establishment of Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
In reply to AQ. No 8 whether it is a fact that it (government) has decided to establish IIT, IIM in Jammu and AIIMS in Srinagar, if so the steps taken for identification of the land for their establishment, Under Secretary to Government Higher Education Department on behalf of Minister Incharge Higher Education confirm that IIT and IIM are being established in the state, added that the land has been identified at village Jagti Tehsil Nagrota in Jammu District for setting up permanent campus of IIT however government stated that no land has been identified yet for IIM while the government of India has also announced setting of New AIIMS in Jammu and Kashmir state.
In reply to another question that whether the government has any proposal for establishing a separate AIIMS (full fledged) in Jammu; if so, the steps taken for the land acquisition in this behalf, the government reply stated that government of India has adviced the state government to identify pieces of land measuring approximately 200 acres each at Srinagar and Jammu for which two teams have also been constituted by the government of India for visiting with regard to finalization of sites for establishment of AIIMS.
In another question whether government intended to set up IIT/IIM and IIMC in Kashmir region as well if so, the steps taken by the government in this regard so far, the government distances itself by stating that the matter pertains to government of India.
Similar question was also asked by MLA Sat Pal Sharma on establishment of AIIMS in Jammu and same reply was given by the government as was given in reply to question of MLA Abdul Rashid Sheikh.
In reply to AQ. No. 94 of MLA Sat Pal Sharma regarding the steps contemplated by the government to improve the condition of Super Specialty Hospital at Jammu, the government reply issued by undersecretary (P&S) Health and Medical Education Department stated that the services at the said hospital are further being strengthened, further added that against the sanctioned strength of 839 posts of specialists and Doctors, 708 are in position while against sanctioned strength of 3568 Para-Medicos and others, 2930 are in position in Government Medical College Jammu and its Associated Hospitals.
