Relatives block Jmu-Pathankot road after youth's death due to alleged medico negligence

Samba, Oct 11: Relatives of a youth and locals today blocked traffic on the Jammu-Pathankot National highway at Bari Brahmana in protest against the death of the youth and alleged negligence of doctors at the Government Medical College (GMC) and Hospital. The agitators laid the body of the deceased at the Chowk during the protest and raised slogans against the GMCH Jammu authorities. The blockade led to a massive traffic jam which disrupted vehicular movement for nearly half an hour. Pertinently deceased identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Om Parkash, a resident of Dioli in Bari Brahmana got injured in road accident near Bishnah and later was admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu on October 4. During his treatment he succumbed to his fatal injuries. Relatives of the deceased alleged that the doctors didn't provide him necessary medicare resulting into his death. Meanwhile, Sub District Police Officer (SDPO) Bari Brahmana, Kulbeer Handa rushed to the spot and pacified the protestors.
