Anantnag police recovers PHE Supply Pipes, shopkeeper held

Anantnag, Oct 17: Anantnag police claimed to have recovered pipes meant for the PHE Department with the arrest of one shopkeeper. Police have registered a case in this matter and started further investigations.
"The accused has been identified namely as Javed Ahmad, a resident of Kamad Anantnag, police sources said here today.
Police sources said, "On specific input, Anantnag police raided blacksmith's shop in Ashajipora area of this southern district and recovered pipes of PHE department.
Sources revealed that some influential employed employees of the department have sold the pipes worth of thousands of rupees to the accused shopkeeper.
A police official who raided the shop at Ashajipora confirmed to Early Times that the police have have recovered the pipes meant for PHE department for various water schemes in the area.
"We recovered six pipes from the shop and arrested the accused," police officer who preferred anonymity being not competent to talk with media said while identifying the accused as Javed Ahmad, of Kamad Anantnag
He added that a case under FIR 327/2015 u/s 389 stands registered at Police Post Janglat Mandi Anantnag.
Sources privy to Early Times also revealed that the trade of pipes meant for govt supply has been going on since from last many years.
"I am sure if police will investigate this case honestly a big scam involving officials, and employees and political chmachas will get exposed," a political activist from ruling party-PDP opined.
He said that department has no mechanism to deal with the situation. "I wonder, pipes were recovered from the same area whose inhabitants are demanding fresh pipeline since from last many years. They are being told department has no ample funds for laying down pipeline," he added.
AEE PHE Division Anantnag, when contacted assured fair probe. He said, "As of now department has not got the required details from the Police. Once we get the details in writing we shall start departmental inquiry and anyone found guilty will be punished.
