SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Virtually ignoring SKIMS Director Dr Showkat Zargar, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Saturday invited the non-gazetted employees to update him about the situation in the premier hospital.
The non-gazetted employees who, according to them, were not allowed by Dr Zargar to meet Mufti during his visit to the SKIMS, were later invited by the CM to his office.
The employees alleged that Dr Zargar tried his best to stop them from handing over a memorandum "exposing prevailing lawlessness in the SKIMS" to the CM. "But luckily we managed to present the memorandum to the CM," they said.
The memorandum mentions in detail "how Dr Zargar demolished the emergency section, paying wards, OPD and Central Laboratory which were constructed after spending huge amount."
"We will explain in detail all the things to the CM when we will meet him in his office soon," said Abdul Rehman, president of the Employees Association SKIMS.
The employees said the CM sent his security official to invite them. Later, they selected senior members of the Association namely Abdul Rehman, Shabir Ahmad, Fayaz Ahmad, Ghulam Nabi Laway, Ghulam Muhammad Hajam and Javaid Ahmad to meet him.
Sources told Early Times that the CM also refused to take tea organized by the SKIMS administration in the meeting room.
Meanwhile, during his extensive visit of SKIMS, Mufti inaugurated several wards and attendant sarais. He inaugurated new colorectal, haemodialysis and medical oncology and renal treatment wards at the SKIMS.
Mufti also inaugurated the new state-of-the-art ICUs, which have been established at a cost of Rs 6.47 crore, and with this addition, the bed capacity of the ICUs has enhanced from 12 to 38. Besides, he also inaugurated the expanded casualty wards, which have facility of 50 more beds.
Mufti also laid foundation stone for two additional floors on the 550-bedded upcoming maternity and paediatric hospital at Bemina. The facility is being constructed at a cost of Rs 75 crore.
