| Mr Umar, problem in Kashmir sectarian, communal | | Ending unrest | | ET Report
Jammu, Oct 17: The self-styled chairman of APHC-M, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who leads a luxurious life and works for worldly gains at the cost of common Kashmiri people, on Friday shamelessly claimed that the problem facing the people of Kashmir was political in nature and it should be resolved politically. "Kashmir issue was a political problem. Prime Minister Narendra Modi (must) announce a political initiative to resolve the dispute," he said at Srinagar, adding that "Kashmir is not an economic or administrative problem". "Stop hacking the leaves of the Kashmir issue by talking economics and administration, but focus on hitting at the root of the problem," he said while addressing Prime Minister Modi.
In other words, Mirwaiz asked the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to endorse the sinister view that "J&K is a disputed territory whose political future is yet to be decided". To be more precise, he asked the Prime Minister to announce a political initiative that drives the State out of the political and constitutional organization of India.
The Mirwaiz also praised former Prime Minister and BJP veteran Atal Behari Vajpayee and urged Narendra Modi to emulate him so that the political problem of Kashmir is addressed. "Vajpayee had realized it in the later years of his tenure and he tried to address the issue by initiating dialogue with Pakistan and Kashmiris," he said, adding that New Delhi has to engage with Islamabad and Kashmiri separatists to end unrest in Kashmir and restore peace in the region.
The assertion of Mirwaiz that the problem facing Kashmir is political, is as ridiculous as it is provocative, sectarian and communal. The problem in Kashmir is essentially sectarian/communal and it has been created by the members of a particular religious sect, which has been ruling the State since October 1947 and which controls all the Kashmir-based political parties; separatist outfits; prominent civil society groups; trade; commerce; transport; industry; secretariat; legislature; financial institutions; and revenue, police, law and education departments, to mention only a few. They have created the whole mess in Kashmir, radicalized the Kashmiri society and damaged Jammu and Ladakh to the extent possible and they have destroyed Kashmir and harmed Jammu and Ladakh with the full backing of New Delhi.
The role of the present Modi-led dispensation in the State has been no different. In fact, the Modi dispensation has caused more harm to Jammu and Ladakh and the paramount national interest in the Valley than any other Government. It is the Modi Government and the so-called nationalist BJP which have given in writing that Pakistan and Hurriyat are also stakeholders in J&K. It is only natural that the Pakistani agents like Mirwaiz have been exploiting the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre to push forward their sinister agenda.
It is strange that those who have been ruling the State and exploiting to the hilt Jammu and Ladakh with the help of New Delhi have been demanding freedom from New Delhi and those in Jammu and Ladakh who have been suffering at the hands of New Delhi and the New Delhi-backed Kashmiri leadership have been fighting splendidly for defending and promoting the national interests in this border State. When will New Delhi call the Kashmiri bluff and take care of its nationalist constituencies in Jammu and Ladakh? When will New Delhi discard appeasement policy? When will it show the place the Mirwaiz and his ilk deserve? |
