Singh patronises nepotist, thug, inefficient doc | Who bothers about Amit Shah's rider? | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 17: Despite strict warning from National President Amit Shah, ex-Congress MP and now, BJP's Minister for Health and Medical Education Choudhary Lal Singh allegedly continues to patronise inefficient, delinquent, ineligible, nepotist and 'thug' doctors working in Government Medical College (GMC) and Super-speciality hospital (SSH) Jammu. Singh has been writing letters, issuing threats and even, using rough language with Principal, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to ensure his blue-eyed boys are given special treatment despite being inefficient and ineligible to work in the super-speciality hospital, said a close aide of Principal, Government Medical College (GMC). An honest and straightforward person, Principal has been facing harassment of highest order from the office of minister, said the sources. Sources said that among the many blue-eyed is Dr. Dharminder Kumar, an allegedly scandalous doctor with tainted past who has connections all over the state and has been using them to stay in the cardiology department of the GMC and super-speciality hospital. They added that Dr. Kumar has been using all tools at his disposal to bring the cardiology department to a grinding halt. They further said that Kumar has no time to better his capabilities but has all the time in the world to spread malicious propaganda against reputed and internationally acclaimed doctors. Dr. Dharminder Kumar who managed a backdoor entry during the time of ex-Congress Minister Taj Mohiuddin used the same connection to get close to the new Minister Choudhary Lal Singh and has now been dictating terms in the GMC and Superspeciality, said the sources. They confirmed that more than being a BJP man, Lal Singh has been obliging his congress colleagues by keeping their close aides and advisors happy. Sources said that one such aide of Taj was Dr. Dharminder Kumar, who would be often seen loitering in the Civil Secretariat with complaints and unnecessary issues while neglecting his primary responsibility of being a doctor during those days. They said that Dr. Dharminder was verbally reprimanded several times by his seniors but he not only ignored their word of caution but would often misbehave with them and even at times, threaten of "teaching them a lesson while boosting of his connections with well-known criminals." Sources disclosed that after Lal Singh took over, Dr. Dharminder Kumar managed to get into the OPD of Cardiology department but as a matter of fact, hospital records clearly show that Dr. Sanjeev Bhat gets much higher number of patients than Dr. Dharminder despite the fact that Dr. Dharminder due to his backdoor entry is an Assistant Professor (OPG) while Dr. Sanjeev Bhat is a lecturer and is known widely for being an intelligent and honest doctor. If the rush at the private clinics of the two doctors is any indicator, sources said that while Dr. Sanjeev Bhat gets more than 150 patients a day at four different places while Dr. Dharminder hardly gets any patient of cardiology to see at his four private clinics. They said that it is this miserable private practice which has forced to Dr. Dharminder to resort to mean tactics to ensure those who are working stop working. Adding salt to the injury is the behaviour of Choudhary Lal Singh who has been patronizing this doctor, according to the sources. He has been issuing threats and even asking the Principal to let Dr. Dharminder rule the roost, added the sources. Sources said that Dr. Dharminder Kumar is known in all the medical circles as "Doctor with BP apparatus and Stethoscope but who does not know how to read ECG or monitor blood pressure." "There is no VIP or VVIP whose BP and Heart rate Dr. Dharminder has not checked. Whether he knows how to check BP or not is another question but the fact remains that his first priority has always been VIPs and VVIPs. We hardly see him looking at patients who come to the hospital," said a new but close friend of Dr. Dharminder. |
