Minister's nephew, goons ransack newspaper office | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 17: Five persons, including the nephew of a minister in BJP-PDP coalition government ransacked a newspaper's office at Kathua area and damaged its property worth lakhs. However, based on the complaint, police lodged FIR against the accused persons including nephew of minister u/s 452,427 RPC. The attack on fourth pillar of democracy (newspaper's office) was made during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The attack was the reaction of the news item the newspaper had carried against the relatives of a politician involved in the drug trafficking in Kathua area. The accused were identified as Harsh Singh, nephew of a minister, and others. As per FIR, some goons in reaction against the news report in the newspaper ransacked the office of the Kathua Kesri newspaper and damaged property worth lakhs, besides, threatened the newspaper editor Manoj Kesar and asked him to refrain from reporting against the minister in future. The next day when the minister realized that the FIR had been lodged, he started exerting pressure tactics following which the two parties sorted out the matter. |
