Jammu, Oct 17 : In order to foster scientific temperament and the art of hands on activities among teachers of mobile schools of J&K, the ongoing four day workshop on popularization of science activities under ST plan (project) for mobile school teachers concluded today at Govt. College for Woman Parade, Jammu. The workshop was being organised by the Vigyan Prasar, Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, Noida and National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS), Jammu. During the four days program, Jawaid Alam and Zia Ahmed Khan Master resource persons from Patna and Aligarh in a coherent way explained and practised various concept of science with the help of simple activities in order to foster the spirit of learning through doing. Since these teachers perform their duties in an open environment mostly to Nomad Children in meadows, efforts were made to take science to these teachers with the help of nature exploration in the so-called nature workshop. The main attraction of the workshop was construction, demonstration and observation of various activities such as seed germination, jar method, sand culture, stone culture in addition to preparation of pooter (insect Catcher), antarium (Ant House), earthworm home, sweep net (Butterfly catcher), aquarium, polygreen houses and so on. The participants gained a lot of interest and evinced great enthusiasm by doing all these activities with their own hand under the guidance of Resource Persons. |
