Udhampur, Oct 17 : Sericulture Department today organized guest lecture of mulberry cultivation practices for North- West India at Government Degree College Udhampur. According to press release, as a part of awareness programme under Star College Scheme, DBT, GOI for the students. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Anil Dhar, Joint Director, CSB, RSRS Miran Sahib, Dr. Anil Dhar in his address said that Sericulture is one of the best occupation to serve people. He said that knowledge one gain should be transformed into skill and Sericulture farmers are the best teachers from whom students can learn. "In his speech, he said that J&K State has a congenial climate to produce Bivoltive Silk, which is of exportable quality and Jammu is producing 50% of Bivoltive Silk in Northern India". Prof. S.S. Bhalwal said that Silk is an evergreen commodity used during the ceremonial occasions for all of us. For Producing Silk, Mulberry is an important component for silk producing insect". |
