AJHLA demands sufficient funds for ongoing tourism projects | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 20 : Hailing the inauguration of 18-Hole Sidhra Golf Course, the All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association (AJHLA) has termed the development as first milestone in the direction of promotion of Jammu tourism, a step forward for tourists' attraction and making Jammu an independent tourist destination. Urging the state Government to devise and put in place foolproof mechanism to ensure the time bound completion of ongoing Jammu bound tourism projects, President Inderjeet Khajuria appreciated the concern expressed by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed on the snail pace of development works in Jammu, Khajuria suggested while implementing time bound completion of ongoing projects government should ensure timely flow of sufficient funds leaving no scope of laxity by the executing agencies as delay in completion of projects cause lot of financial burden on the government, besides unnecessary suffering of the public. Due to extension of rail link to Katra, Jammu tourism traders have suffered an abrupt financial setback causing frustration as no relief has reached them in any shape till now. There is dire need for confidence building measures in the entire fraternity of Jammu tourism related traders in view of shattered economy. He said that artificial lake project started during 2010 with the sole aim for creating tourist circuit in Jammu as yet to be commissioned and as the work is mostly complete except for construction of 17 diversion channels for discharge of effluents and municipality waste to keep the filth and dirty water away from the lake. The same is required to be completed within shortest possible time. The development of Hari Singh Park will enhance tourism potential and attract the tourist as well as pilgrims. The Jammu rope way project which was to be completed within 30 months should also be completed within the target date as the work is in progress. Multistoried shopping complex with parking and development of Jammu Bus Stand needs to be completed at earliest. Completion of border tourism projects at Suchetgarh on the pattern Wagha border should also be made functional. |
