Separatist stopped from vitiating atmosphere, detained | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Oct 20: Separatist and pro-Pak Yasin Malik was today detained by Anantnag police after he tried to take out a procession to vitiate the atmosphere in Kashmir. Malik, after his return from the house of Zahid, who was wounded in the Udhampur petrol bomb attack on October 9 last and succumbed to his injuries in a New Delhi hospital on Sunday, at Botengoo, Anantnag, was trying to take out a procession when police took him into custody after a minor scuffle and whisked him away to Anantnag police station. "We took him into custody because he was trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the area," police sources said. Protests were later held to Maisuma where youth stoned cops of police and CRPF. While they were chased away, they regrouped themselves and again pelted stones on the cops. Teargas shells were also lobbed by the cops to disperse the stone palters. The ding-dong battle between the two sides continued for some time. |
