BOSE chairman shifts exam centre, asks Director Education to hold probe

Jammu, Oct 20: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) today ordered a probe into the Marwah mass copying case in which two police constables were placed under suspension after they were caught on camera while facilitating mass copying in ongoing 10th class private examination at Higher Secondary School Yardoo (Marwah).
While talking to "Early Times", Chairman JKBOSE Zahoor Ahmed Chatt said that after surfacing of photographs showing police personnel in uniform facilitating mass copying in remote Marwah area of Kishtwar District, the order for immediate shifting of the examination centre from the said Higher Secondary School has been issued and the supervisory staff engaged for conducting the examination had also been replaced. He said that beside shifting of examination centre and change of supervisory staff, Director School Education Jammu has been asked to conduct the inquiry and to take appropriate action against the Superintendent as well as against the other staff members tasked to conduct free and fair examination.
In a question that whether the authorities had cancelled any paper of the examination centre, Chairman JKBOSE said that though they had not so far ordered for the cancellation of any paper, but added that whole examination centre is under scanner. He said that JK Board from time to time had taken various steps to curb the menace of mass copying, added that deviating from the past practices this year the Board officials instead of asking concern Chief Education Officers of the Districts for staff for engaging to conduct the examination chose the staff assigned for examination duty directly from the institutions.
Acknowledging that there are reports of menace of mass copy in rural areas of the state, Chairman JKBOSE said that they are mulling the option to shift the rural examination centre for better supervision as well as for holding free and fair examination.
In a question whether JKBOSE had any plan to install CCTVs in examination centres, Chairman JKBOSE said that it is not possible for the board authorities to install CCTVs at each examination centre, added that many schools lacks such facilities and said that as model examination centres, CCTVs could be installed at few examination centres.
In a question that mass copying in Doda and Kishtwar District has attain the tag of " Multi crore Flourishing industry" with active involvement of Board officials and teachers nexus, Chairman JKBOSE said that Board from time to time adopts various majors to prevent and control the menace of mass copying that is ruing the education system and assured that every step will be initiated to prevent and control this menace including boarding all those employees from examination duties whose name either figure in promotion or under scrutiny for promotion of mass copying at any level.
He J&K Board is committed to eradicate the menace of mass copying and seeks public cooperation for curbing the growing menace of mass copying at each and every stage.
