Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 23: Migrant Kashmiri Pandit families of Manigam-Lar of central Kashmir's Ganderbal District who recently returned to Kashmir feel insecure as some land mafia in nexus with local administration harass them. They have been told to leave Kashmir.
Talking to Early Times two Kashmiri Pandit brothers Rajindar Bhan and Dileep Bhan said that some noted influential property dealers during the intervening night of September 10, 2015 sprayed some poisonous substance on the their standing paddy crops cultivated by them and took away paddy which they had stored earlier. They said that these property dealers in nexus with some officials of the revenue department have also framed documents of their 3 Kanal land and are now trying to sell it.
They said that land measuring more than 3 kanals belongs to them since 1973 after they purchased it from one Nancy Devi. But now they are shocked to see the forged and faked documents.
They alleged that few officials of local administration are supporting them to illegally occupy their plots as every time they approach local administration to seek help they are ignored for some unknown reasons.
"Incident of spraying poisonous substance on paddy crop happened during the intervening night of September 10 and till date no action was taken against anybody. We approached the officials but no action has been taken,"Rajinder Bhan told Early Times.
They said that despite getting support from common masses of the Manigam village, these property dealers having political contacts are hell-bent to dispossess them from their ancestral land.
Dileep Bhan alleged that despite assurance of state government to provide secure environment to migrant KP's willing to return Kashmir, it seems that local administration here is hand in glove with these property dealers and has failed to protect us as we are feeling insecure now here.
The Pandits have sought Chief Minister’s intervention.
