'Defeat leaves Jora red faced | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 23: Congress facing crushing defeat in the LAHDC polls has left the party stalwart and MLA Leh, Nawang Rigzin Jora, red faced. Many Congressmen believe that wrong policies followed by the former Minister Jora led to the debacle of Congress in the LAHDC polls. A senior Congress leader while talking to Early Times said, "Most Congress leaders in Leh were not happy with Jora's style of functioning. His arrogant approach annoyed most of the leaders and LAHDC members. They lost interest in campaigning. Entire unit of the Congress party resigned enmasse during poll campaign to protest against the dictatorial approach of Jora. It served as the last nail in Congress's coffin." The leader said that Jora not giving any importance to other leaders led to them getting disillusioned and pushed them away from the Congress party. "Jora opposing the ban on beef and following Kashmir centric policies led to BJP gaining ground in this hilly district and winning the LAHDC polls," the leader added. Jora would have o pay a heavy price for projecting himself as the only face of Congress in the district. "The party facing humiliating defeat in the LAHDC polls should serve as an eye opener for the party high command. Entire unit of the Congress party has forwarded its resignation to the party President Sonia Gandhi, now it for the Congress high command to choose between Jora and other leaders," the leader added. |
