Sale, purchase of fire crackers "banned" at Bhaderwah | | | Early Times Report
BHADERWAH,Oct 23: District Magistrate, Doda, has put a temporary ban on the sale and purchase of fire crackers in the town after an alleged sacrilegious act. As soon as some locals found the Quranic verses on burnt fire crackers in the town, peaceful protests were held amidst raising of slogans against the government and the manufacturer of fire crackers. The town observed a shut down and vehicles also remained off the roads. Cops were deployed in and around the town to avoid any untoward incident. "The desecration of our religious scripture is highly condemnable," Khairat Hussain Frash, President of Anjuman Islamia, Bhaderwah, said . He said the companies should avoid the use of sacred papers in the manufacturing of fire crackers. Meanwhile, Doda district magistrate Bhupinder Kumar has temporarily banned the sale and purchase of fire crackers in the district. Violations in this regard shall be dealt strictly under the relevant provisions of the law, he added. He informed that police had registered an FIR at Bhaderwah police station and the matter was being investigated. He appealed to the people to maintain peace. |
