Life remains affected in Kashmir due to restrictions, strike | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Oct 23: Life remained affected in south Kashmir for the fifth day today due to curfew-like restrictions and strike, called by Mirwaiz South Kashmir Qazi Yasir against the killing of Zahid Bhat, who succumbed to injuries in a New Delhi hospital on October 18. However, a strike was observed in Shopian also in south Kashmir, where two local Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces yesterday. Official sources said that curfew-like restrictions continued in Anantnag, Bijbehara and Bantengo for the second day today to prevent any law and order problem. Large number of paramilitary forces and state police personnel remained deployed to strictly implement the restrictions. Zahid and two others, including a policeman, were injured after a Kashmir-bound truck was attacked with a petrol bomb at Udhampur in Jammu region on October 9 our beef rumours. Meanwhile, Kulgam and Shopian also observed strike today with all shops and business establishments remaining closed and traffic off the roads. Work in government offices, bank and educational institutions was affected due to strike. |
